Love & Lead Metals Info

At Love & Lead, I keep things simple and reliable—all standard earring hooks and posts are made with stainless steel.

Here’s a quick breakdown of common jewelry metals and why I’ve chosen stainless steel:

• Stainless Steel – Strong, durable, and resistant to rust and tarnish. It’s a great everyday metal and works well for most people, which is why I use it as my standard.

• Surgical Steel – A specific grade of stainless steel used in medical settings. While often marketed for sensitive ears, not all surgical steel is created equal, and reactions can still happen for some people.

• Sterling Silver (925) – Made from 92.5% silver. It has a classic look but can tarnish over time and may cause irritation for some due to the alloy metals mixed in.

• Hypoallergenic Metals – This term simply means a metal is less likely to cause a reaction—but it’s not a guarantee, as everyone’s skin is different.

• Titanium (Available by Request) – A premium option for sensitive ears. It’s lightweight, extremely durable, and one of the most biocompatible metals available. If you have sensitivities, I offer titanium upgrades upon request.

Why stainless steel?
I’ve chosen stainless steel for its strength, low maintenance, and reliable wear—so you can focus on enjoying your jewelry without the fuss.
